Rock Springs + Crescent Hills + Shirley Woods

NEIGHBORHOOD

Rock Spring

Rock Spring offers a sense of community with numerous walkable streets where neighbors know each other. It's part of Arlington Public School District, and many students can walk to both middle and elementary schools, including Discovery Elementary and Williamsburg Elementary.

This area seems like any other suburban town, but it's just 20 minutes by car to Downtown Washington and easily accessible via the Metro. Many single-family homes here are quite large, with backyards that lead to wooded areas. The area doesn't have apartments, and there are no commercial businesses within its borders, something that residents cherish.

Older, red-brick ramblers are next door to charming colonials and bungalows. Newer construction is present here, especially as some older homes have been rebuilt. It doesn't feel old, but it has a bit of historic charm nonetheless. Some areas are beginning to urbanize a bit more, with more pedestrian-friendly areas just a few blocks from restaurants in neighboring communities.

Crescent Hills

Noted for its high-value homes and larger estates, Crescent Hills could be an ideal place to call home for those who want to be just a few minutes from I-66. It's more expensive than most neighborhoods in the region, but with that comes fabulous benefits including good access to the city, green space, and a variety of home styles. Most of the homes were built in the 1940s through the 1970s, although some were built after 2000. Important to note is that this area has very few homes for sale, as demand is typically high.

Crescent Hills is known as a small, pocket neighborhood. Many older homes here are brick ramblers, though newer construction offers a much more modern lifestyle that includes everything from geothermal heat to floor-to-ceiling windows with a view. Residents have access to Arlington Public Schools, although the neighborhood itself doesn't have a school within it.

Shirley Woods

Located in the northern area of Arlington, Shirley Woods offers more modern homes, with many featuring the red brick that the area is so well known for. While most date back to the mid-1900s, many have modern updates, beautiful landscaping, and spacious layouts. These homes are often large, some with over 4000 square feet. Many have original features, including hardwood floors and enclosed patios.

Those who call Shirley Woods home enjoy easy access to the Washington Golf and Country Club, Driscoll Plaza, and Marymount University. A bit of a college town, this small neighborhood has a few smaller homes and apartments near the school. Arlington Public Schools serve the area, with Williamsburg Middle School and Yorktown High School within walking distance for many families.

Home values are high, and most homes are on moderately sized lots, providing ample privacy to those who call this area home. All residential, it's a few minutes drive to area shops and restaurants.
