Cherrydale + Maywood + Waverly Hills

NEIGHBORHOOD

Cherrydale

Cherrydale is a beautiful community with mostly older, renovated homes and a quiet, small-town feel. With tree-lined streets and historic homes dating back to the late 1800s, it's within walking distance of numerous parks, a pond, and the Metro. Oakgrove Park overshadows the area, but a quick walk to Starbucks or Chipotle makes a quick meal after work easy.

Most of Cherrydale features single-family homes, but you'll find a few high-end apartment complexes nearby. Street after street features Cape Cod, bungalows, and a few well-maintained larger estates. While much of the area offers an old town vibe, there's some new construction of more extensive 5-bedroom, 4-bathroom homes in the area.

Those living in Cherrydale have access to Arlington Public Schools. For those making their way into the city, this area of Arlington is bordered by I-66 and US-29. While it's a busy city, there are also plenty of fun events, such as block parties in July, that make it a community

Read more about this community in our blog, Life in the DMV.

Maywood

Maywood, a 46-acre neighborhood near Lorcom Lane and I-66, offers a charming, historical place to call home. The Mayfield Historic District is home to nearly 200 homes dating from 1909 to 1913, many of which offer beautiful Queen Anne style, two-story gable-front homes and charming gardens.

Although fewer than 1100 people live in this neighborhood, it's an excellent place to be in the heart of it all. There's a Walgreens Safeway, String & Knots retailer, and many other shops and cafes in the area. It's also bordered on the eastern side by Thrifton Hill Park. It's quick and easy to get on I-66 from this area, making getting into the city a breeze.

Residents enjoy a range of home styles here, including bungalows and some newer construction. It's also part of the Arlington Public School District. Residents enjoy upper-class living and easy convenience in this area.

Waverly Hills

Nestled between Langston Blvd and N. Glebe Road is Waverly Hills. Often called a storybook community, it's a place where children can walk to school each morning, and tree-lined streets provide shade. The area is mostly single-family homes, most of which are brick colonials. Some are older, dating back to the 1930s, but others have been rebuilt and remodeled many times over.

While Waverly Hills features some beautiful mansions, you'll also find a mixture of more modest homes and plenty with good-sized yards. The area was once farmland, but today it's filled with small neighborhood parks, including Woodstock Park. Toward the northern portion of the neighborhood is a commercial district with a Chipotle Mexican Grill and a Lebanese Taverna Market. More commercial areas are located in the southern part of the neighborhood.

The Waverly Hills community is somewhat densely populated, with about 3,500 people calling it home. Students attend Arlington Public Schools.
